Convalidação de Habilitação Estrangeira / Validation of foreign driver’s license
Drivers licensed in foreign countries (born in those countries or Brazilians residing there) may apply for a driver’s license in Brazil, according to the equivalence of their original driver’s license, when supported by international conventions and agreements. In these situations, the driver must undergo a physical and mental aptitude exam and psychological evaluation, respecting his category, with a view to obtaining the Brazilian Driver’s License.
There are cases, however, not supported by international conventions and agreements. In these situations, the driver of a motor vehicle, born in a foreign country and authorized therein, on a regular basis, provided that they are criminally imputable in Brazil, holder of a license NOT recognized by the Brazilian Government, may drive in the National Territory by exchanging his original license. by the national equivalent with the transit body or executive entity of the States or Distrito Federal, after being approved in the Psychological Assessment, in the Physical and Mental Aptitude Exam and in the Practical Test of Vehicle Driving, respecting its categories, in order to obtain the National Driver’s License.
Requirements
Valid driver's license from the country of origin;
Be over 18 (eighteen) years old;
Have no criminal precedent;
Know how to read and write.
Required Documentation
Valid National Foreigner Registration/RNE
Valid CPF;
Proof of residence issued in the last 90 days, according to "Portaria 088/2019/Detran/SC";
Valid foreign license;
Submit an original translation of the valid foreign driver's license, by a sworn translator registered with an "Junta Comercial", with the date of the first driver's license, the date of validity of the license and type of vehicle to drive;
Procedure

Opening of the process at: Department of Transportation (Órgão de Trânsito) or; Driver's Training Center (Centro de Formação de Condutores - CFC);

Collect biometrics (photo, signature and fingerprint);

Undergo psychological evaluation;
4
Undergo a medical evaluation;
5
Take the practical exam (when necessary)
6
Submit Driver's License (CNH) issuance fee;
7
Wait for the period established by the Transportation Authority for the withdrawal of the CNH;
8
Collect biometrics (photo, signature and fingerprint);
